Musical Montage: Tahiti “The Real Ghostbusters Soundtrack”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is out this coming weekend and apparently took some inspiration from The Real Ghostbusters. While it’s highly doubtful, hopefully, some of that inspiration is a soundtrack banger like the duo Tahiti provided for the cartoon series. Consisting of Tonya Townsend and Tyren Perry, the duo recorded 10 songs for the show’s soundtrack, mostly in the first season of episodes, with most of the songs appearing in multiple episodes. The last episode of the series to feature a Tahiti song was Episode 22 “Venkman’s Ghost Repellers”. “Ghostbusters” performer Ray Parker Jr. contributed a guitar solo for the song “Hometown Hero” but had no other involvement in the series music. After Tahiti, Tyren Perry joined her sisters Jaimee Foxworth and Jania Foxworth to form the group S.H.E. The Real Ghostbusters soundtrack was released on cassette, CD, and vinyl in 1986, with the cassette version specifically getting a “kiddie” packaging version designed to hang on toy store shelves. You can listen to the soundtrack below.
