Everything Action Theater: Vertigo (1958)
Considered the greatest film by Alfred Hitchcock and one of the greatest films of all time, you can watch Vertigo in the latest Everything Action Theater. Jimmy Stewart stars as John “Scottie” Ferguson, a former San Fransisco police officer who retires after an incident chasing a perp leaves him with a debilitating fear of heights. Working as PI, he takes a case to follow the wife (Kim Novak) of an old acquaintance and gets dragged into a twisty plot of false identities and murder. While the movie received mixed reviews on its initial release in 1958, it was subsequently reevaluated and considered one of the best movies ever made. It was among the first 25 films inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry. It also ranked #9 on the last AFI 100 list and was #1 on the 2012 Sight & Sound list of the greatest movies ever made. It dropped to #2 on the magazine’s 2022 list, replaced by Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles. You can watch Vertigo below, courtesy of YouTube.
