Everything Action Theater: The Last Dragon (1985)
One of the greatest cult classics of the 80s, you can watch The Last Dragon in the latest Everything Action Theater. “Bruce” Leroy Greene (Taimak) is on a quest through the wildest parts of NYC to find a mysterious martial arts master who can help him achieve the ultimate level of his martial arts training and attain “The Glow,” becoming a master like his idol, Bruce Lee. Along the way, he faces the villainous “Shogun of Harlem,” Sho’Nuff (Julius Carry), and the arcade baron/music manager Eddie Arkadian (Christopher Murney). Leroy becomes a target after saving the beautiful VJ, Laura Charles (Vanity), from Arkadian’s thugs, who try to force her to play a music video for Arkadian’s girlfriend on her show. The movie’s soundtrack is a standout, featuring songs like “Rhythm of the Night” by El DeBarge and “The Glow” by Willie Hutch. The movie was reviewed relatively well by critics at the time, and it was a modest hit at the box office, but repeated airings on cable after its release turned it into a beloved cult film. It’s a crazy, cheesy, and awesome movie you can experience below, thanks to YouTube.
