Paul Mescal Seeks Vengeance in Gladiator II (Trailer)
Ridley Scott returns to Ancient Rome in November with Gladiator II. Paul Mescal plays Lucius, who fled to Numidia in the two decades following the events of Gladiator and tries to live in peace with his wife and child. When Rome invades, his family is destroyed, and Lucius is captured as a slave and sold to the opportunistic Macrinus (Denzel Washington), who has designs to take control of Rome. Pedro Pascal is Marcus Acacius, the general who led the invasion that led to the death of Lucius’ family, and Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger are the twin emperors Geta and Caracalla. Connie Nielsen returns from the first Gladiator as Lucilla, the sister of the former emperor Commodus. It looks like there are tons more gladiatorial spectacles on display, but the bar was set incredibly high by its predecessor. Gladiator II is out on November 22nd, and you can check out the new trailer below.
