Battle at the Box Office 11/4/24
Venom: The Last Dance stayed on top of the box office for the first weekend of November and had a relatively small drop compared to other superhero movies.
Venom: The Last Dance made another $26.1 million in its second weekend, dropping 49% from last weekend. Most superhero movies see closer to 60% for a drop-off, so that’s one positive in favor of Venom. The Last Dance also opened a lot lower than most comparable superhero films, so it’s another mixed bag for the movie. It has $90 million domestically for two weeks of release and $316.9 million worldwide. The international markets, especially China, are potentially helping The Last Dance break even in the theatrical window. It’s still tracking far below where the other two Venom movies were in the same time frame.
The Wild Robot moved up to second place in its sixth weekend of release, making another $7.4 million. It now has $121.3 million domestically and $269.9 million worldwide.
Probably boosted by lingering Halloween vibes, Smile 2 only dropped 29% from last weekend and made another $6.7 million, taking it to $52.6 million domestically and $109.7 million worldwide.
Conclave and Here rounded out the top 5 Conclave had a strong hold, only dropping 24% from last week’s opening, and made another $5 million, taking it to $14.9 million domestically. Here is one of the lowest openings ever for director Robert Zemeckis, only topping Welcome to Marwen and The Walk Here was Zemeckis’ first theatrical release since 2018, having directed The Witches for Max and Pinocchio for Disney+, both of which were streaming only.
A Real Pain had the best Per Theater average of the weekend, making $57,214 in each of the four theaters it was playing in.
