Originally written in 1976 by Don Schlitz a number of artists tried their hand at “The Gambler”, including Johnny Cash, but Kenny Rogers is the one who made it explode in popularity in 1978. The song was so massive that it even spawned a series of TV movies starring Kenny Rogers himself as the title character.

Possibly looking to copy some of the success of Titanic and its massive power ballad “My Heart Will Go On”, Celine Dion was offered “There You’ll Be” for Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor but she turned it down and country superstar Faith Hill performed the song instead.

All of the Milla Jovovich starring Resident Evil movies leaned toward alt-metal and nu-metal for their soundtracks but it seems like the song that had the most impact was Killswitch Engage’s “The End of Heartache”, which appeared on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack in 2004.

Although never officially released as a single, “Till I Collapse” from Eminem’s album The Eminem Show (and featuring Nate Dogg) made its way around the world of sports, video games, and movies like 2011’s Real Steel, where it was featured in the movie’s trailers along with appearing on the soundtrack.

Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation arrived in 1997 from Saban but only lasted one season when it was canceled in 1998. There was enough time in that period however to make a ridiculous 90s music video for the show’s theme song, which featured all the Turtles, Splinter, and the new villain, Dragon Lord.

Freddy and Jason have had a long history with soundtrack songs from the likes of Dokken, Alice Cooper, The Fresh Prince, The Fat Boys, and more but since 2003 was firmly in the era of Nu-Metal, Ill Niño provided Freddy vs Jason its end credits song and main soundtrack single, “How Can I Live”.
