Musical Montage: The Spider-Man Trilogy
One of the things that didn’t really carry over into the current MCU/DCEU world of superhero movies is huge soundtrack songs and albums but back in the days of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, each movie in the franchise got at least 1, if not multiple, big soundtrack song, complete with an accompanying music video.

Slumdog Millionaire was a massive commercial and critical hit when it arrived in 2008, score huge wins at the Oscars, Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, and the Grammy Awards, not only Best Picture but also for its score but also its Bollywood inspired banger, “Jai Ho”
Musical Montage: The Cryptkeeper “Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas”
Towards the end of its run on HBO, Tales from the Crypt got a pun-filled Christmas parody album with John Kassir’s Cryptkeeper singing gruesome spins on holiday classics with 1994’s Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas.
Musical Montage: Jordy “It’s Christmas, C’est Noel”
With 1993’s Look Who’s Talking Now set during Christmas, the movie recruited young French pop star Jordy, who the previous year set the Guinness World Record for the youngest singer ever with #1 song, to make a special music video for his Christmas song, “It’s Christmas, C’est Noel” that tied into the movie.
Musical Montage: David Bowie “Absolute Beginners”
A deep cut UK musical drama, Absolute Beginners co-starred David Bowie and received a title track from the legend himself, the song “Absolute Beginners” faring much better than the movie itself as far as critical reception and performance.
Musical Montage: Los Lobos “La Bamba”
To go along with the musical biopic La Bamba, which starred Lou Diamond Phillips as rock star Ritchie Valens, Los Lobos performed a number of covers for the movie’s soundtrack, including their version of Valens’ biggest hit, “La Bamba”, and made a music video for the song as well.
Musical Montage: Michael McDonald “Sweet Freedom”
When buddy cops Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal are forced into taking a vacation following the sloppy bust of a drug dealer in Chicago, the pair head to Key West, Florida and relax to the dulcet tones of Michael McDonald’s “Sweet Freedom”, with the pair also appearing in the music video for the song.
Musical Montage: Jude Cole “Back to School”
Overshadowed by fellow Back to School soundtrack song “Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo, Jude Cole’s title track for the 1986 Rodney Dangerfield classic has fallen somewhat by the wayside.
Musical Montage: The Peanut Butter Solution
Alongside all the disturbing insanity of 1985’s children’s film/horror nightmare The Peanut Butter Solution was the first ever English language songs performed by the one and only Celine Dion, “Listen to the Magic Man” and “Michael’s Song”.
Musical Montage: Queen “Stone Cold Crazy”
For the soundtrack of the 1992 “classic” Encino Man, a slightly remixed version of the Queen classic “Stone Cold Crazy” was included and also got a music video crafted from various Queen performances and videos along with footage from the movie.
Musical Montage: Brother Cane “And Fools Shine On”
Firmly setting Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers in 1995, the movie’s soundtrack was full of tracks from the rock band Brother Cane, including their hit single “And Fools Shine On” from their album Seeds, which released the summer before the movie arrived in the fall.
