Musical Montage: Poetic Justice
Following up his critical and commercial debut hit Boyz N The Hood, director John Singleton directed Tupac and Janet Jackson in the romantic road trip drama Poetic Justice. Each of the stars has a song on the soundtrack and it also featured tracks from TLC, the first-ever single from Usher, Mista Grimm, and a classic Stevie Wonder song.

The Foo Fighters are paying homage to the horror genre this weekend with their horror/comedy movie Studio 666 but they’ve frequently referenced and parodied movies and pop culture in their music videos, including 2002’s “The One”, which came from the soundtrack for the movie Orange County but pays tribute to the movie/TV series Fame.

Probably better remembered than the Stallone movie it came from, Gloria Estefan’s version of a 1976 disco classic by Vicki Sue Robinson was on the soundtrack for 1994’s The Specialist and became a big dance hit and hit #13 on the Billboard charts.

Musical Montage: The Dudes of Wrath “Shocker”
Much like other 80s horror movies like Dream Warriors and Jason Lives, Wes Craven’s 1989 slasher movie Shocker looked to the world of heavy metal for its soundtrack and got a supergroup called The Dudes of Wrath for its title song, which featured the likes of Paul Stanley, Desmond Child, Tommy Lee and more.

Thanks to Peacemaker’s incredible opening credits, everyone now has Norwegian glam metal band Wig Wam’s 2010 song “Do You Wanna Taste It?” stuck in their heads along with the other fantastic as always soundtrack choices from James Gunn.
