Oz the Great and Powerful Trailer

Debuting at Disney’s Comic Con panel, the first trailer for Sam Raimi’s prequel to The Wizard of Oz is here.  James Franco stars as magician Oscar Diggs, whose hot air balloon is caught in a tornado and he lands in Oz.  Once there it’s assumed he’s a great wizard and he gets caught in between three witch sisters, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams).  Evanora is clearly the pre-green skinned Wicked Witch and I’m assuming Theodora is the one who Dorothy murders with her house.  The beginning black and white sequence looked fantastic but once we get to Oz, it looks way more like Tim Burton’s Wonderland than the Oz we’re all used to.  Alice in Wonderland made over $1 billion so I’m guessing Disney wants to make lightning strike twice but it feels like we’ve seen it before, despite how weird it is.  The movie is out next March and you can check out the trailer below.
