Battle at the Box Office 8/6
The Dark Knight Rises continued to dominate the box office over the weekend with another $35.7 million and crossing the $350 million mark in the third fastest time. Second went to Total Recall, with a disappointing $25.6 million in lieu of it’s $125 million budget. It’s still the second highest opening for a movie based on a Phillip K Dick story, behind Minority Report but it’s also just slightly better than the opening for the original Total Recall, which came out in 1990. Third went to Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3, way down from the previous movie in the franchise, this one made $14.6 while Diary 2 made $23.8 million it’s opening weekend. Ice Age 4 and The Watch rounded out the top 5 and everything else pretty much moved down two places with the only major movement coming from Savages dropping from ninth to thirteenth. Bourne Legacy is probably the biggest release coming this weekend, will a super enhanced Outcome agent be enough to knock Batman off the top of the box office charts?
