Celluloid Wizards in the Video Wasteland: The Rise and Fall of Empire Pictures (Trailer)

Following in the footsteps of Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films another purveyor of 80’s schlock is returning to the spotlight with Celluloid Wizards in the Video Wasteland: The Rise and Fall of Empire Pictures.  Empire International Pictures was a studio formed by Charles Band that brought us such gems as Robot Jox, Trancers, Re-Animator and Ghoulies before going bankrupt in 1989.  This new documentary talks to some of the filmmakers behind the movies and shows off rare behind the scenes footage and even concept art for movies that never got made.  It was partially funded on Kickstarter and is currently looking to enter the festival circuit but hopefully we’ll get the chance to see it soon.  Check out the trailer below.
