Andy Serkis Puts His Spin on The Jungle Book in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (Trailer)

Originally supposed to have already been out in theaters as Jungle Book: Origins, Andy Serkis’ first massive directorial effort will now hit Netflix in December as Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.  Rohan Chand stars as Mowgli and the movie has a slightly darker spin on the Rudyard Kipling classic than Disney’s highly successful reboot in 2016.  It also seems like it’s doing something differently with the story, as Mowgli finds and enters the human village and the big thrust is going to be him figuring out world he truly wants to be a part of and there’s a hunter played by Matthew Rhys that seems like he might be a secondary antagonist alongside Shere Khan, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.  Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Eddie Marsan, Jack Reynor, Frieda Pinto, and Naomie Harris co-star and the movie will be on streaming (and in select theaters) on December 7th.  Check out the new trailer below.
