DC Brings Shazam and Black Adam to SDCC 2022 (Trailer)
DC had their big movie panel at SDCC 2022 and revealed the first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods and a new look at Black Adam. Shazam! Fury of the Gods picks up from 2019’s Shazam! with Asher Angel back as Billy Batson, who transforms into his superpowered alter ego Shazam (Zachary Levi) when he says the word Shazam! Billy’s adopted siblings all got powers at the end of the first movie and they’ve all been doing super heroics along with Billy in the time between films. A new ancient evil arrives in the form of Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), who are the daughters of Atlas and want the powers of Shazam for themselves, and believe it is their birthright to have. Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, and Jack Dylan Glazer co-star with David F. Sandberg back to direct. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is out on December 21st this year.
Meanwhile, Black Adam arrives on October 21st with The Rock starring as Black Adam (who may eventually duke it out with Shazam based on their comic history). 5,000 years after he first gained his incredible powers, Black Adam is unleashed from the prison he was kept in and faces the Justice Society of America, who try to determine if Black Adam is here to save the world or destroy it. Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Marwan Kenzari, Quintess Swindell, and Sarah Shahi co-star with The Rock’s Jungle Cruise director, Jaume Collet-Serra at the helm.
