Joaquin Phoenix Lives a Disturbing, Fantastical Life in Beau is Afraid (Trailer)

Following up Hereditary and Midsommar, Ari Aster is back with A24 for another potentially disturbing but also fantastical-looking new movie, Beau is Afraid.  Joaquin Phoenix stars as Beau, who lives in an “alternate present” and makes a journey home when his overbearing mother dies.  The journey seems to become an epic adventure as he’s held captive, makes his way through a fairy tale world, comes under fire, and more.  Amy Adams, Nathan Lane, Zoe Lister-Jones, Patti LuPone, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, Richard Kind, and Michael Gandolfini co-star.  Aster describes the movie as a “nightmare comedy” and potentially could be close to four hours long.  We’ll find everything going on with Beau is Afraid on April 21st and you can check out the trailer below.
