Everything Action Theater: 100 Million BC
Based on the premise alone, this weekend’s 65 sounds like something The Asylum would put out, as the masters of the mockbuster are no strangers to time travel and dinosaurs, as seen in movies like 100 Million BC. Released in 2008, the big Hollywood movie it was drawing “inspiration” from was Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 BC (which just celebrated its 15th anniversary this week) and it followed a team of Navy SEALs who are sent on a rescue mission back in time to the Cretaceous Period to rescue a team that was sent there originally in the 1940s. When the team comes back to the present day, a deadly dinosaur follows them back and wreaks havoc on present-day Los Angeles. Michael Gross, Christopher Atkins, and Greg Evigan co-starred. Recently, the movie was featured on Red Letter Media’s Best of the Worst when special guest Jack Quaid picked it as one of the movies discussed on the “Plinketto 10” episode.
