Everything Action Commentary: The Italian Job
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, Zach and Chris watched 2003’s The Italian Job for the latest Everything Action Commentary.
A loose remake of the 60s Michael Caine classic, the new Italian Job stars Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Seth Green, and Yasiin Bay as a heist crew looking for revenge against their former colleague, Edward Norton, who betrayed them after a massive gold heist in Venice and kills their mentor, Donald Sutherland. Along with being the 20th anniversary this month, there are also some tie-ins to Fast X, as along with Fast & Furious regular Statham and Theron, the movie was also directed by F. Gary Gray, who directed The Fate of the Furious. Cars also play a major role as the gang uses heavily modified Mini Coopers for their climactic action sequence/heist through Los Angeles. While watching the movie, the guys discuss Charlize going undercover as a cable technician, Seth Green inventing Napster, Mark Wahlberg trying to suppress his Boston accent, Ed Norton’s evil mustaches, and more.
