Musical Montage: Foo Fighters “Walk”
Despite appearing as the end credits song of Thor back in 2011, “Walk” by Foo Fighters actually paid homage to Joel Schumacher’s cult classic Falling Down in its music video. Coming off the band’s album Wasting Light, it was the third single released, coming out on June 6th, 2011. The song immediately hit #1 on the Billboard Rock chart and went on to win two Grammy awards, Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. The music video for “Walk” was actually released before the single was available, on June 2nd, 2011, and was directed by Sam Jones, best known for his portraits of famous celebrities for Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and other magazines. The video puts Dave Grohl in the role of Michael Douglas from Falling Down, going through a day in Los Angeles and getting increasingly frustrated and angry at the various situations he finds himself in. The other members of the band, including the late Taylor Hawkins, appear throughout as some of the people Grohl encounters. The video won the MTV VMA for Best Rock Video and you can check it out below.
