Musical Montage: Divinyls “Back to the Wall”
Along with featuring co-star Tuesday Knight’s song “Nightmare” and The Fat Boys “Get Ready for Freddy?” the soundtrack for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master also featured “Back to the Wall” by Divinyls. Heard in the movie when Kristen (Tuesday Knight) drives to Alice’s (Lisa Wilcox) house, the song was included on the movie’s official soundtrack album, while “Nightmare” and “Get Ready for Freddy?”. “Back to the Wall” was released months before The Dream Master hit theaters, being a single off Divinyls third album Temperamental, which was released in February of 1988, with The Dream Master releasing in August of that year and the official movie soundtrack arriving in November. The song reached the top 40 in Divinyls native Australia but doesn’t seem to have made much impact in the US, despite appearing in The Dream Master. You can check out the music video for “Back to the Wall”, which unfortunately doesn’t feature any Elm Street clips or Robert Englund cameos.
