Musical Montage: Green Day “Nice Guys Finish Last”
“My Hero” by Foo Fighters is arguably the most memorable song from the Varsity Blues soundtrack but Green Day also contributed “Nice Guys Finish Last”. The last single released from Nimrod, and the song received a boost from being on the Varsity Blues soundtrack, although it’s still a deeper cut Green Day song. It hit #31 on the US Alternative Airplay charts and was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for “Best Song From a Movie”. The music video doesn’t explicitly reference Varsity Blues or the West Canaan Coyotes but it fully embraces a football aesthetic, taking place at “Green Day Stadium” and features narration in the style of the legendary John Facenda, the voice of NFL Films.
