Everything Action Theater: Pryde of the X-Men

In some alternate universe, we’d all be getting hyped for the return of the X-Men that were featured in the 1989 pilot, Pryde of the X-Men on Disney+.  Airing as part of the “Marvel Action Universe” block of animated shows like Spider-Man, Pryde of the X-Men was the first attempt to bring the X-Men to animation.  The funding for the pilot was taken away from the Robocop animated series, which was also developed by Marvel Productions.  Marvel was having massive financial issues around this time and their entire animated line-up, which included the 70s and 80s versions of Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Woman, and Spider-Man all ended and Pryde of the X-Men never got the chance to turn into a series.  The second time was the charm when Saban and Marvel teamed up to bring X-Men: The Animated Series to Fox Kids in 1992.  Pryde of the X-Men’s most enduring legacy is that it was the inspiration for Konami’s fantastic beat ’em up arcade game.  The episode aired randomly after its initial airing and was then released on VHS.  You can watch the entire episode below thanks to YouTube.
