Everything Action Theater: Warrior of the Lost World
It’s a good week for fans of the post-apocalypse as the TV series based on Fallout debuted on Prime Video and the original Mad Max is celebrating its 45th anniversary. In the wake of Mad Max, tons of imitators hit theaters and VHS throughout the 80s, one of them being the MST3K favorite, Warrior of the Lost World. Robert Ginty stars as “The Rider”, who travels the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the movie on an AI-powered motorcycle named Einstein. The Rider becomes the head of the resistance against Omega, an evil state run by Prossor (Donald Pleasance), who brainwashes people into obeying him. Prossor and Omega also have a gigantic truck dubbed the “Megaweapon” that terrorizes the denizens of the wasteland. The movie was released in 1983, first in Italy where it was also shot, and directed by David Worth, who also directed Kickboxer, Lady Dragon and other schlocky 80s and 90s action movies. The movie is probably best known for its appearance in Season 5 of MST3K, an episode that is highly rated by fans of the series with Mike and the Bots in particular singling out the forgetable persona of Ginty and the annoying voice of Einstein. You can watch the entire movie below but it’s also streaming on Tubi and PlutoTV.
