Zach’s Top 5 Worst Movies of 2024
There were lots of great movies in 2024, but there were also truly awful ones that were a waste of time, resources, and talent. Sony was a particularly egregious offender, with all of its Marvel Universe movies being either laughably bad or utterly bland and boring disasters. Check out my picks for the top five worst movies of 2024.
- Joker: Folie a Deux: “Joker: Folie à Deux is one of the most baffling sequels in recent memory. It feels pulled in several directions and does not satisfy any of them”
- Rebel Mon Part Two: The Scargiver: “The second part of Zack Snyder’s Netflix space opera Rebel Moon, The Scargiver, feels less like a whole movie than the third act of a film drawn out to 2 hours and the threat of more Rebel Moon on the way”
- Kraven the Hunter: “…the film ultimately falls flat, lacking the hilariously terrible tone of Madame Web or the bat-shit insanity of the Venom trilogy”
- Argylle: “Argylle has some fun stuff sprinkled throughout but everything like interesting character development is thrown away for constant plot twists and the PG-13 action saps away the visceral fun that we’ve gotten from almost every other previous Matthew Vaughn movie”
- Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga: “Fury Road is one of the greatest action movies ever made, and the bar was set super high for any follow-up. Maybe my expectations were too high, but Furiosa does not compare favorably to Fury Road in almost every way. Bloated where Fury Road was streamlined, there aren’t enough exciting elements to Furiosa’s backstory to justify the downtime between action sequences and the extended runtime. After the montage during the credits, I think I’ll probably stick with Fury Road to get my over-the-top, post-apocalyptic action fix”
Dishonorable Mentions:
- Madame Web
- Venom: The Last Dance
- Salem’s Lot
