Musical Montage: Imagine Dragons and JID “Enemy”
Arcane has drawn tons of praise for its incredible animation style, strong performances, and complicated and mature storytelling. Still, one area where the praise is a bit more mixed is the show’s soundtrack, which includes the show’s theme song, “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons and JID. The show, especially in the second season, drew criticism for its soundtrack choices, with the song heavily handily laying out what the viewer should think or feel instead of letting the viewer decide for themselves. It’s a minor complaint for a fantastic show and Imagine Dragons had already established a history with League of Legends before the show started, with their song “Warriors” being used for the 2014 League of Legends World Championship. The song was released as a single for the Arcane soundtrack and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, a first for JID and the first Top 5 single for Imagine Dragons since 2017’s “Thunder.” The music video for the song was animated by Fortiche Animation, the same studio behind the show, and features animated versions of Imagine Dragons and JID in the world of Arcane while showing scenes from the younger days of Powder/Jinx and Vi.
