Everything Action Theater: City Heat (1984)
Featuring the pairing of Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood, you can watch 1984’s City Heat in the latest Everything Action Theater. Clint plays police lieutenant Speers while Burt plays private eye Mike Murphy. The pair are forced to work together when Murphy’s partner is killed while investigating mob boss Leon Coll (Tony Lo Bianco). Jane Alexander, Madeline Kahn, Rip Torn, Beau Starr, Irene Cara, and Richard Roundtree co-starred. The movie was directed by Richard Benjamin and was anticipated by Warner Bros. to be a massive hit given the superstar pairing of Reynolds and Eastwood. It disappointed when it released in December 1984, making only $38.4 million off a budget of $25 million and it wasn’t given glowing reviews from critics either. Probably the most memorable fact about the movie is that Reynolds broke his jaw on the first day of filming after getting hit in the face with a metal chair, and by the time filming was done, he had lost 30 pounds due to being forced to be on a liquid diet.
