Musical Montage: Fall Out Boy “Immortals”
With Big Hero 6 turning ten this week (and it being this week’s Everything Actioncast topic), it seems like the perfect time to highlight “Immortals” by Fall Out Boy. Written for the movie, the song is used for a training montage as the superhero team develops their high-tech gadgets and also plays over the movie’s end credits. A slightly different version of the song was included on Fall Out Boy’s album American Beauty/American Psycho. Released as a single slightly before the movie’s release, the song hit #9 on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs, and the album version peaked at 72 on the Hot 100. The song was also certified Platinum. “Immortals” also became something of “Jock Jam,” being used by both the NFL and NHL during broadcasts and promos.
