Everything Action Theater: The Matador (2005)
Lionsgate shadow dropped a selection of full movies to their official YouTube channel this week, and one of them was the underrated 2005 black comedy The Matador, which you can watch in the latest Everything Action Theater. Pierce Brosnan stars as Julian Noble, a professional assassin who is starting to lose his edge. Greg Kinnear co-stars as mild-mannered businessman Danny Wright. Fate sees the pair meet at a hotel bar in Mexico City, and an unlikely friendship sparks between them. Hope Davis co-stars as Danny’s wife, Bean, and Philip Baker Hall plays Julian’s handler, Mr. Randy. The movie screened at various film festivals and received excellent reviews from critics, including Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, who gave it two thumbs up on At the Movies. The movie was dumped into theaters in January 2006 and then mostly existed on DVD and HD DVD. Brosnan was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Saturn Award for his role in the movie.
