Up and coming distributor A24, who previously brought us the excellent Ex Machina and The Witch, are bringing another entry to the horror genre in November (or right now if you have DirectTV) with The Monster. Directed by Bryan Bertino, who previously directed the well received horror movie The Strangers, The Monster follows a mother (Zoe Kavan) and daughter (Ella Ballentine) who are in an accident on a stormy night and left stranded on a desolate stretch of road. They slowly realize there is something out in the woods stalking them and they try to remain hidden and safe until rescue arrives. It feels a bit like Cujo, except the creature here is a little more weird and dangerous looking than a rabid St Bernard (which is still scary, don’t get me wrong). Scott Speedman also co-stars and you can see it in limited release on November 11th or, again, right now if you have DirectTV. Check out the trailer below.
