Stallone joins the world of superheroes by becoming Samaritan on Prime Video in August. Originally going to be released theatrically but delayed multiple times from the pandemic, Samaritan is now a Prime Video exclusive. Stallone star as Joe Smith aka Samaritan, who used to be the superpowered hero of Granite City but disappeared after a massive battle 25 years ago and now tries to hide who he is and live life as a sanitation worker. A young boy, Sam Cleary (Javon Walton), puts the pieces together, figures out Joe’s secret, and then tries to get him to come back, as the city descended into a crime-ridden hellhole ruled by gangsters like Cyrus (Pilou Asbaek). Martin Starr, Moises Arias, Dascha Polanco, Natcha Karam, and Jared Odrick co-star. Julius Avery, who directed the surprisingly fun World War II horror mashup Overlord, is directing Samaritan and the story was previously adapted by Mythos Comics in a series of graphic novels. The movie is out on August 26th and you can check out the trailer below.
