Perhaps looking to fill the hole left by the cancellation of Perry Mason on HBO, Clive Owen is stepping into the shoes of famous sleuth Sam Spade for a gritty new neo-noir series, Monsieur Spade, on AMC. Set in 1963, Spade has retired from his life as a private eye in San Fransisco and is living in Bozouls in the South of France. His quiet retirement is rocked when six nuns at a local convent are murdered and Spade gets involved in the investigation, discovering a mysterious child that seems to be of interest to multiple, potentially dangerous, parties. Cara Bossom, Denis Ménochet, Louise Bourgoin , Chiara Mastroianni, Stanley Weber , Matthew Beard, and Rebecca Root co-star. Scott Frank, who wrote on Out of Sight and Logan, and Tom Fontana, who created Oz for HBO, created the series. The show debuts on AMC and AMC+ on January 14th and you can check out the trailer below.
