Musical Montage: Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds
There have been many different takes on HG Wells’ classic War of the Worlds but by far the funkiest was Jeff Wayne’s prog rock concept album from 1978, which retold the story through songs and spoken narration from actor Richard Burton.
Musical Montage: Rammstein “Feuer Frei”
Setting the tone for the xXx universe, Rammstein performed their song Feuer Frei in the opening sequence of the 2002 xXx and director Rob Cohen directed the band’s official music video as well.

Anders Holm from Workaholics and rapper Serengeti came together in 2015 for the 90’s club jam throwback duo Perfecto and put out an EP that included the song “Giorgio” and a 17 minute origin story song.

Night Ranger provided the title track for the 1987 Michael J. Fox comedy, The Secret of My Success, where Fox tries to make it in the big city but gets caught up in a fake persona and a love square between himself, his boss, his boss’ wife and a fellow exec.

We all know Brie Larson now as an Oscar winning actress and star of some huge upcoming blockbusters but back in 2005 she was a potential teen pop star and put out the single “She Said” from her one album, Finally out of PE.
Musical Montage: Jim Varney “Gee I’m Glad It’s Raining”
Perhaps the most bizarre moment in the Ernest film canon isn’t some wacky slapstick bit but a serious and sad montage where Ernest sings the melancholy song “Gee I’m Glad It’s Raining” as all hope of saving the camp seems lost.
Musical Montage: Dead Man’s Bones
After bonding over their love of The Haunted Mansion and ghosts/monsters in general, Ryan Gosling and his friend Zach Shields formed the band Dead Man’s Bones and put out an album in 2009 and also had songs featured on the soundtracks for movies like The Conjuring.

Part of both the album and movie True Stories, Wild Wild Life finds David Byrne and the Talking Heads impersonating a ton of other 80’s musicians and features one of the first ever major appearances of John Goodman.

The Cure contributed to a number of soundtracks in the mid-90’s but their particular goth sound didn’t really fit with the over the top world of 1995’s Judge Dredd when they contributed the credits song “Dredd Song”.
