Debuting on YouTube Red, Cobra Kai continues the Karate Kid saga as Johnny Lawrence (Billy Zabka) reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and teaches the same brutal techniques as former sensei John Kreese, which draws the attention of one Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). The show is set 30 years after the original Karate Kid and it’s not clear if the increasing craziness of 2 and 3 will be referenced and it’s probably a safe bet that The Next Karate Kid won’t be referenced at all. The show is being described as a dramedy and is apparently treating the franchise seriously, it’s not some wacky pseudo-sequel like you might expect. The show will debut sometime later this year on Youtube Red and you can check out the trailer below.
