Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg are reteaming again, although this time they are not recreating a recent disaster but instead delivering what looks like a solid, old school action movie with Mile 22. Wahlberg stars as James Silva, leader of the black ops “Overwatch” team which includes Lauren Cohan and Ronda Rousey and they answer to John Malkovich (with a bizarre and disturbing head of hair). Their latest mission involves Li Noor (Iko Uwais), a special forces soldier who has evidence that his country is planning a devastating attack. The Overwatch team needs to get Li extracted but they only have a 90 minute window to reach their extraction point 22 miles away but the country’s elite troops are standing between them and escape. It’s a classic setup that we’ve seen before in movies like The Gauntlet, The Warriors, 16 Blocks and more and it almost always results in a solid and fun action movie and this one looks like it will have lots of solid gunplay and some great martial arts (as usual) from Uwais.
