It’s been five years since the brilliant and hllarious Lego Movie hit theaters but Emmett, Wlydstyle (aka Lucy), Unikitty, Batman, Benny and Metal Beard are all back in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Piece. Picking up from the events teased at the end of The Lego Movie, The Second Piece finds the Lego Universe in a Mad Maxesque apocalypse following the the invasion of the Duplos, with everyone becoming hardened survivors, except sweet, dumb Emmett (Chris Pratt). An mysterious alien force invades and kidnaps everyone but Emmett, forcing him to build a spaceship and set off into the galaxy to rescue his friends. He encounters bad-ass hero Rex Dangervest (also Chris Pratt), who is a clear parody of all of Pratt’s recent action hero roles, and the two Pratts team up while the rest of the crew tries to figure out the end goal of Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Hadish) and her second in command, General Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz). Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman and Charlie Day are all back to voice the OG Lego crew and it should hopefully be jam packed full of cameos and surprises like the first movie, although it’s not directed by Lord and Miller but instead the duo of Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. The Lego Movie 2 arrives on February 8th next year and you can check out the new trailer below.
