Disney is bringing the Haunted Mansion back to theaters with a new spin on their iconic theme park ride, hitting theaters in July. Rosario Dawson stars as single mom Gabbie, who moves into the titular Haunted Mansion with her son Travis. After discovering the true nature of the house, Gabbie recruits a team of experts to come and try and exorcise the spirits from the home; Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, and Danny DeVito. Jared Leto plays the iconic Hatbox Ghost and Jamie Lee Curtis is Madame Leota. Guillermo Del Toro is an executive producer of the movie, and it was directed by Justin Simien, who previously brought us Dear White People and Bad Hair. Hopefully, with GDT providing some guidance, this new Haunted Mansion will be a fun mix of comedy and some actual scares, although it’s not clear if Disney is going go hard as some other GDT productions, like surprisingly great Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The Haunted Mansion opens on July 28th and you can check out the trailer below.
