Jake Gyllenhaal takes over from Patrick Swayze as Dalton, sorry “Elwood Dalton”, in the upcoming remake of Road House hitting Prime Video. Directing by Doug Liman, Gyllenhaal’s Dalton is a former UFC middleweight who takes a job working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. A rowdy crowd has made the bar unsafe and a greedy real estate mogul, played by Billy Magnussen, wants to run the bar out of business to build a luxury resort. Actual UFC fighter Conor McGregor plays Knox, Dalton’s main adversary, with Daniela Melchior, JD Pardo, Jessica Williams, Darren Barnet, Arturo Castro, and Joaquim de Almeida co-starring. The movie is debuting at the upcoming SXSW festival at the beginning of March but Liman is boycotting the premiere due to Amazon’s decision to release the movie as a streaming-only feature. Road House will debut on Prime Video on March 25th and you can check out the trailer below.
