Drawing comparisons to The Raid, The Furious looks set to bring nonstop martial arts action to theaters in May. Directed by acclaimed Japanese fight choreographer and director Kenji Tanigaki, The Furious finds Xie Miao starring as a father whose daughter is kidnapped by an underground criminal network. Teaming up with a reporter, played by Joe Taslim, whose wife has also gone missing, the pair fight their way through the underworld to find answers. Jeeja Yanin and Yayan Ruhian make an appearance, and Yang Enyu, Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Manatsanun Phanlerdwongsakul, Guo Junqing, and Winai Wiangyangkung co-star. The movie debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and garnered critical acclaim for its action sequences, though some of the dialogue and plot are apparently a bit clunky and goofy.
