Based on the classic anime series and directed by The Wachowskis, Emile Hirsch stars as Speed Racer, who races for his family’s Racer Motors. Tempted to become sponsored by Royalton Industries, Speed’s refusal causes Royalton CEO E.P. Arnold Royalton (Roger Allam) to sinisterly reveal the truth that all of the biggest races are fixed, and it’s all just a conspiracy to manipulate corporate stock prices. Determined to prove Royalton wrong and take down the criminal activity, Speed teams up with Inspector Detector (Benno Fürmann) and the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox). Zach and Chris discuss the movie’s hyper-vibrant visual style, the nonexistent physics in the racing, ninja fights, the overly complicated corporate plot, and more.
