Following a documentary last year, Predators, the Dateline NBC reality series To Catch a Predator gets the dramatized film treatment from A24 in September, Primetime.  Robert Pattinson stars as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, who confronts sexual predators who arrive at a house to find that it’s a sting operation to arrest them for trying to have sex with a minor. The series raised ethical and legal concerns about the show’s tone and the nature of the sting operations, which many considered potential entrapment. The series was canceled in 2008 when a Texas assistant DA, Bill Conradt, shot himself as police and the NBC film crew entered his home to confront him. Primetime will probably cover most of that, and Merritt Weaver, Phoebe Bridgers, Sean Bridgers, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Anna Faris, and Bokeem Woodbine co-star. Lance Oppenheim, who most recently created the HBO series Ren Faire, directed the film. Check out the teaser below.
