Fans picking up G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #330 today were treated to a major surprise as Lara Croft made her first-ever appearance in the long-running series, setting the stage for an unprecedented crossover between G.I. Joe and Tomb Raider.
Announced by Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics in collaboration with Hasbro and Crystal Dynamics, the crossover continues in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1, a five-issue limited series launching on October 7th.
Written by Kyle Higgins with artwork by Elena Casagrande, the series follows Lara Croft as she teams up with Shipwreck and the Joes on a dangerous mission to Cobra Island in search of the mysterious Arbco Star before Destro and Baroness can claim it first.
“This is the crossover event you never knew you wanted,” said Skybound Editorial Director Alex Antone, while Higgins promised longtime G.I. Joe fans plenty of deep-cut references alongside the action-packed adventure.
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #330 completely sold out at the distributor level, but a second printing will be out on August 12th. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1 arrives in comic shops and on digital platforms on October 7th for $4.99, featuring multiple variant covers from Elena Casagrande, Stjepan Sejic, Chris Mooneyham, Leirix, and others.
