Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics are bringing a new take on The Phantom of the Opera to comic shops next year. Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera, a four-issue limited series from writer Tyler Boss and artist Martin Simmonds.

The series dives back into the haunted halls of the Paris Opera House, where rising soprano Christine becomes entangled in a string of violent attacks—and the whispers of a mysterious figure in the rafters. As an old friend investigates, long-buried secrets about Christine and the Phantom begin to surface.
Boss calls the story “a true ghost tale”, while Simmonds returns to the Universal Monsters line after earning an Eisner nomination for Dracula. Skybound promises a dark, operatic horror story fans haven’t seen before.
The debut issue will feature a wide range of variant covers, including artwork by Simmonds, Joshua Middleton, Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, David Talaski, and more.
Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera #1 arrives in comic shops and digital platforms on February 25, 2026.
