This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head to Isla Sorna and discuss the 2001 film Jurassic Park III. The first movie in the series not to be based on a Michael Crichton novel and not directed by Steven Spielberg, with Joe Johnston stepping behind the camera and bringing back Sam Neill’s Alan Grant. Needing cash to keep his fossil dig going, Grant reluctantly agrees to accompany Paul Kirby (William H. Macy) and his wife, Amanda (Téa Leoni), to be their guide on a flight over Isla Sorna. Grant’s research assistant Billy Brennan (Alessandro Nivola) comes along as well but Grant is horrified when the plane lands on the island. Quickly attacked by a Spinosaurus, the aircraft is destroyed, and the group is stranded. The Kirbys reveal the real reason they are there is to find their son Eric (Trevor Morgan), who has been missing for eight weeks on the island. Zach and Chris discuss Chekhov’s raptor larynx, how different the island looks compared to The Lost World, the utterly useless trio of mercenaries, Téa Leoni’s similarities to Willie Scott, the insane tie-in books, and more.
