It’s been 40 years since the last adaptation, but Red Sonja is back in theaters in August for some sword and sorcery action. Matilda Lutz stars as Sonja, who is enslaved by an evil tyrant and forced into gladiatorial combat. Forming a ragtag group of warriors, Red Sonja leads a fight to take down Draygan the Magnificent (Robert Sheehan) and his bride, Dark Annisia (Wallis Day). Michael Bisping, Martyn Ford, Eliza Matengu, Veronica Ferres, Katrina Durden, and Manal El-Feitury co-star. Rhona Mitra, Kate Nichols, and Danica Davis were also cast but their roles are currently unknown. M.J. Bassett, who directed the Megan Fox movie Rogue, as well as episodes of Reacher and The Terminal List, directed the film. Red Sonja has a release date of August 15th, and you can check out the trailer below.
