It’s been 10 years of no scares, but Scare-A-Con is back in Syracuse, NY! This horror and pop culture fan-run convention offers thrills and chills, featuring celebrity guests, movie screenings, vendor booths, and more. We’ll be there next week, from September 5 to 7, at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, and here’s a quick preview of what you can expect to find and watch.
Celebrity Guests
There will be several celebrity guests attending meet-and-greets, panels, and screenings at Scare-A-Con, including a few cast reunions from movies like the original Fright Night and the Hell House series. Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf and Scream the Series, the legendary Kane Hodder (Saturday & Sunday only), Costas Mandylor from the Saw series, Daniel Roebuck from The Munsters and Terrifier 3, and Felissa Rose from Sleepaway Camp are just a few of the celebrities attending the convention.
Movie Screenings
If you’re looking to check out some new horror movies, Scare-a-Con will have you covered with some marquee screenings on Friday and Saturday night and a film festival throughout the weekend.
On Friday night, you can check out Popeye the Slayer Man, which turns the spinach-eating cartoon sailor into a brutal slasher villain.
Also on Friday, you can check out Sorority of the Damned, with stars Felissa Rose and Joe Davison doing some behind-the-scenes discussion and a Q&A after the screening.
On Saturday night, you can watch the latest entry in the Hell House franchise, Hell House LLC: Lineage.
Also on Saturday, you can watch the New York premiere of The Boy from Below, with stars Felissa Rose, Daniel John Kearney, Ruben Rosado, and Jeff Descoteaux, who will have a behind-the-scenes discussion and Q&A following the screening.

There is also a selection of films in the Scare-a-Con Film Festival, which will be running all weekend, presented by Indie Horror Junkie magazine. A Best of Show award will be given to the best Feature and short films, along with several other awards.
Other Events
Several other events are scheduled to take place at Scare-A-Con, including a special celebrity ghost hunt on Thursday night that will explore the allegedly haunted 10th floor of Syracuse’s Hotel Syracuse (this will require a special extra ticket). There is also a VIP party on Friday night for attendees with a VIP badge, as well as an all-access party on Saturday night. That’s in addition to all the vendors selling various merchandise, homemade items, or promoting local haunts and events as we get fully into the spooky season.
Keep an eye on our social media for updates from the convention, and check back here shortly after the convention for a full trip report about everything we checked out.
