Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey hits theaters this weekend as one of the year’s most anticipated blockbusters, but 90s kids probably first discovered Homer’s classic tale from Wishbone. “Homer Sweet Homer” was the fifth episode of the PBS series and saw Wishbone (Soccer the Dog) taking on the role of Odysseus as he tries to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Outside the literary story, Wishbone’s owner, Joe (Jordan Wall), and his friends find themselves fighting to save a historic oak tree in town that is in danger of being cut down by a greedy real estate developer. Along with the TV episode, Wishbone also tackled The Odyssey as a video game, Wishbone and The Amazing Odyssey for PC, released in 1996. You can watch the episode below via YouTube.
