The Odyssey went on an epic run at the box office this past weekend with the biggest worldwide debut ever for Christopher Nolan.
The Odyssey opened to $124.5 million domestically over the weekend, the third-best domestic opening ever for Nolan behind The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.  It’s also the biggest live-action debut domestically for 2026. Worldwide, the movie has made $263.7 million, which puts it at #13 for the year globally. Audiences gave it an A CinemaScore, and the reviews and word of mouth have been rapturous, so expect it to have amazing legs going into its second weekend. The audience was 59% male and 76% aged 25 and over.
Moana dropped 58% from last week’s weak opening, making another $17.9 million. It’s now at $81 million domestically and $177.3 million worldwide. Estimates still have the movie losing Disney at least $100 million, if not more.
Toy Story 5Â stayed in third place with another $13.7 million, taking it to $429.8 million domestically and $958.4 million worldwide, and it seems like it will cross the $1 billion mark soon.
Minions & Monsters and Evil Dead Burn rounded out the top 5.  Evil Dead Burn dropped a steep 65% from last weekend’s opening, taking in another $4.7 million and putting it at $23.8 million domestically and $50.7 million worldwide.
