M3GAN and The Grabber Return in Blumhouse Sequels (Trailers)

Two of Blumhouse’s horror icons are making their returns in sequels: M3GAN, back at the end of this month in M3GAN 2.0, and Ethan Hawke’s The Grabber, returning for Black Phone 2 in October.

Black Phone 2 sees Mason Thames returning as Finney, who managed to escape the notorious serial killer The Grabber by killing him after getting ghostly advice from The Grabber’s previous victims.  Now 17, Finney and his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) are at the remote Alpine Lake Youth Camp when The Grabber makes his return, now seemingly a malevolent entity that can haunt dreams a la Freddy Krueger: Demian Bichir and Jeremy Davies co-star.  Scott Derrickson returned to direct, and C. Robert Cargill also returned to co-write the script with Derrickson.  Black Phone 2 is set to release on October 17th.

On the complete opposite end of the Blumhouse spectrum, M3GAN 2.0 appears to be a bonkers, campy action comedy.  Allison Williams and Violet McGraw return as Gemma and Cady, while Amie Donald is back as the physical performer of M3GAN, and Jenna Davis returns as M3GAN’s sassy voice.  A new AI creation, AMELIA (Ivanna Sakhno), built using stolen technology that created M3GAN goes rogue and starts killing anyone with knowledge that could stop her.  This includes Gemma, but since Cady is also threatened, M3GAN agrees to team up with Gemma and battle AMELIA.  Gerard Johnstone returns to direct the sequel.  M3GAN 2.0 is out on June 27th.
