Based on the novel by The Martian author Andy Weir, Ryan Gosling is Earth’s last hope for survival in Project Hail Mary. Gosling plays a science teacher who is recruited as an astronaut on a desperate mission to figure out why the Sun and several other nearby stars are dying. En route to the Tau Ceti solar system, Gosling’s Ryland Grace finds himself as the mission’s only surviving crew member, and he has to keep his sanity and use his scientific knowledge to keep the mission going. Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntraub, Lionel Boyce, and Ken Leung co-star. Chris Lord and Phil Miller directed the film, which, although it seems like some humor is sprinkled throughout, feels like a significant departure from their past movies in the catalog. Project Hail Mary is out on March 20th next year, and you can check out the trailer below.
