
Based on the first novel written by Stephen King, The Long Walk is set to begin in September in theaters. Set in a dystopian America, 100 boys compete in an annual tradition known as The Long Walk. They must walk and maintain a speed of 3 mph, and if they stop for any reason, they are shot and killed by the soldiers accompanying them, led by Mark Hamill’s Major. The one survivor of the contest gets whatever he wants for the rest of his life. Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Joshua Odjick, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Josh Hamilton, and Judy Greer star. Francis Lawrence, no stranger to dystopian contests, having directed the last few Hunger Games movies, directs.
