
The classic 1984 platformer Montezuma’s Revenge, which initially debuted on Atari consoles and 8-bit PCs, is back for its 40th anniversary. Developer and publisher Eastasiasoft Limited has announced that Montezuma’s Revenge – The 40th Anniversary Edition will arrive on December 10th, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Created by Robert Jaeger, the game has been rebuilt from the ground up in vibrant 2.5D HD visuals, expanding the original adventure to 100 rooms packed with traps, treasures, and enemies. Players can choose between Pedro and his sister Rosita as they explore the dangerous ruins in search of ancient artifacts.

A Director’s Cut of the original pixel version is also included, available on both Steam and in the Nintendo Switch Limited Edition, which features a collectible USB drive and additional bonuses. The digital release will be priced at $14.99 USD, with a 10% launch discount available for a limited time.
