Created by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, The Abandons brings epic Western drama to Netflix in December. Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey star as dueling matriarchs battling over land in 1850s Washington. Headey plays Fiona Nolan, and she and her family, which consists of orphans she has adopted, are poor but loyal and trying to build a new life for themselves. Meanwhile, Anderson is Constance Van Ness, a wealthy European aristocrat who is looking to acquire the Nolan land and add it to their growing empire. Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lama Johnson, and Natalia del Riego co-star. Sutter wrote the first and seventh episodes of the series, but he left the show with a few weeks left of shooting, allegedly because Netflix was unhappy with the length of the first episode, which had ballooned to feature length and necessitated additional scenes to be shot. The show debuts on December 4th on Netflix, and you can check out the trailer below.
